A single-cylinder engine is an internal combustion engine with only one cylinder in which fuel is burned. This type of engine has a simple design and can be found in various applications such as motorcycles, mopeds, lawnmowers, and small generators. The piston inside the single-cylinder engine moves up and down within its cylinder to create power through the four-stroke cycle: intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust. Since there is only one cylinder in a single-cylinder engine, it produces only one power stroke per rotation of the crankshaft, resulting in a relatively low output compared to multi-cylinder engines like V-twins or inline fours.
